Board Up your Windows - Its the Atherstone Ball Game!

The Pin Digital team were a little distracted today away from their usual work by one of the highlights of the year in the local calendar.  Every year on pancake day the Atherstone Ball Game takes place on the high street and Pin Digital have a perfect view from our offices to watch the events unfold.

For those of you unaware of what the Atherstone Ball Game is, here is a brief history.  Started over 800 years ago, no one knows the exact origins of the game or why it was started.  It involves kicking a large inflatable ball up and down the high street for two hours, whoever is left holding the ball at the end of the game is declared the winner.  However as the pictures and videos below show - it isn't always played in a friendly spirit!

As you can see, many shops and local businesses board up their windows and doors for the game because of the high chances of someone going through the windows with a ball in their hands!
