Case Study

The Client
The Northern Warwickshire Tourism
Association (NWTA) is a non profit making organisation which aims to raise the
profile of Northern Warwickshire. Their members include accommodation
providers, tourist attractions, pubs, restaurants, heritage centres, stately
homes and children’s farms. Through effective networking among members, they
aim to provide visitors to the area with a complete tourism experience,
increasing their enjoyment and desire to return and creating a vibrant rural
economy.
The Challenge
To produce a website that would be instrumental in developing interest in
Northern Warwickshire and increase it’s popularity as a tourism destination, as
well as promoting the businesses of individual members of the association.
As part of the brief the NWTA also requested a logo and brand identity. The new
identity was to play a key part in the website design but would also be used in
other promotional material.
Another requirement was the facility for members to be able to create their own
personalised full page adverts promoting their businesses and the products or
services they offer. This had to be extremely simple to use as there was a wide
range of individuals who would be using the system, and as such it had to cater
for users with limited computer and internet experience.
The website also needed a controlled member’s only area to facilitate
collaboration and communication. This would allow members to share information
and exchange ideas in an informal and easy to use environment.
Finally it was important that the website was optimised to rank well on all the
major search engines, with particular emphasis on ranking well for searches
relating to tourist activities in the local area.
The Solution
Pin Digital developed the new
website based on a simple to use yet highly advanced content administration
system designed and developed in-house by Pin Digital’s .NET development team.
The system encompasses a Content Management System which allows the NWTA full
control over their website enabling them to edit and amend content at any time.
It also includes functionality to enable them to manage their membership
database and to grant members access to the website with differing levels of
permission, depending on their membership level.
Individual members are then able to log into the website and create and
maintain their own full page adverts. This includes the ability to upload of
photos which are automatically resized before being displayed in their adverts.
Throughout the project Pin Digital worked closely with members of NWTA to help
advise and guide them through the development of the website. Thus ensuring
scalability and a website the not only meets but exceeds the expectation of the
members.
The Bottom Line
The Northern Warwickshire Tourism Association now has a website which promotes
the area and the businesses of it’s members. They have all the management tools
required on the website to allow them to expand as the association grows.
The website has become some what of an authority site for the local area and is
linked to by several local government and County Council websites. Traffic to
the website is increasing month on month, and the search engines are referring
more traffic to website as it starts to rank higher and higher for relevant key
words.
The NWTA has indicated that the site has received many accolades from Tourism
professionals, Tourism businesses and individuals.

The management committee and members of the Northern Warwickshire Tourism
Association are extremely pleased with the work carried out by Pin Digital.
They delivered a website that met our requirements, has wide ranging appeal and
has directly brought business to its members in the area.
