The New Google AdWords Interface

Posted by Patrick | Filed under , ,

I'm sure many of you out there who are Google AdWords users will have been using the new user interface over the last few months.  We started to see the new interface being beta tested on client accounts before it slowly got rolled out to more people.  I hate to say it but I'm not a massive fan of the new system.  At first it was very impressive, I generally found it easier to find and sort data how I wanted it.  It was a little clunky and slow but I could accept this as it was a new feature being tested so there were going to be a few bugs.  However several months on and I'm still finding the interface very slow indeed.  This does seem to be an issue for a few people and whilst I accept that Google are working to improve this, I can't help but wonder if they rolled it out across too many people too soon.

I'm finding that I'm using the offline AdWords editor more and more now to make changes to client campaigns, its a shame that it isn't yet possible to view stats offline and make changes accordingly.  I tend to view the live stats and flick between this and AdWords editor.

I'm sure the AdWords team will get things sorted soon, but I'm not very impressed at the moment.  The new features themselves look great, if it wasn't for the bugs and speed then I'd probably be a lot happier with the interface.

One thing I have been impressed with however is the series of posts from the Google AdWords blog which focus on how to use the new interface along with tips and hints.  They have also setup a dedicated website which includes some useful videos and help.  I've been through these videos and quite like them and found them quite useful.
