Case Study

The Client
Interior Décor Direct have been supplying quality
products to British customers for over 30 years. They pride themselves on the
fact that whilst they refuse to compromise on quality, they still manage to
offer products at unbeatable prices.
From their factory in the heart of Worcestershire they supply window décor
products to thousands of satisfied customers every day. From Venetian blinds to
curtain poles, they claim you won't find products of the same quality at better
prices anywhere else.
The Challenge
Interior Décor Direct required an ecommerce website to sell their products
online. The company initially ventured onto the internet with a simple
ecommerce website developed by a friend. Impressed with the orders generated by
this they contacted Pin Digital with the requirement to develop a more
professional bespoke ecommerce website which fitted their exacting
requirements.
The company required a website that would be visually attractive, very
user-friendly, easy to use and quick to load. When they approached Pin Digital,
Interior Décor Direct were already distributing in excess of 200,000 blinds
across the UK per year. It was the intention that the new website would help
the company to penetrate the market further by broadening their audience.
The Solution
The website was built to make use of
the latest technology including ASP.Net, XML and SQL server, and features a
full content management system which can be administered and updated by any
member of Interior Décor Direct’s staff.
With many differing ranges of window décor products, the new ecommerce website
needed to display relevant search criteria based upon the items being browsed
by shoppers. To enable this, product attributes were set to display
dynamically, dependent upon the products being viewed or selected.
Product information was presented clearly and simply, with almost every product
having its own high quality photograph, each of which was taken specifically
for the website. These images could all be enlarged to allow the user to see
each product in fine detail.
The website was designed with the facility to group a number of related
products together to create product bundles, which could then be displayed and
sold as a single packaged item. In each case these bundles had full
descriptions with links to information on the individual items in the bundle.
In addition there is also an up sell feature allowing the company to display
‘other products of interest’ to the customer.
The Bottom Line
The completed website meets all the initial requirements set out by the client
and thanks to an ongoing pay per click and search engine optimisation campaign
visits and orders to the website are steadily increasing. Since the initial
launch Pin Digital have been commissioned to add a number of additional
features to the website including a made to measure section that automatically
calculates costs and size based upon information requested from the customer.
They have also created a catalogue only version that feeds from the same
database but displays the products without pricing or the ability to purchase.
This is then presented under a different identity and website address to
potential suppliers and distributors in the Far East.

Pin Digital made the process of developing interiordecordirect.com a pleasure
and fun. They were always happy to share their knowledge to benefit ours (a
rare thing in this IT world of ours).
They understand what the customer wants and know that when dealt with correctly
the customer will return for more. Such is our confidence in Pin Digital that
currently we have started 3 other projects with them and are sure these will
reach the same satisfactory conclusions.
Here’s to more profitable ventures ahead.
